Treat Your Acne Naturally

Home Acne Treatments

Have you ever been overwhelmed by the sheer number of options for acne treatment that are available at your local store? Have you ever thought that there must be a better option, that you should be able to clear your skin up without using a myriad of irritating chemical agents? Consider trying some of the more popular home remedies for acne!

Start With Your Diet

Eating poorly can have a negative effect on many of your body's natural balances. To start treating your acne from the inside out, make sure that you do the following:

(1) Drink 6-8 glasses of water each day.

(2) Eat 5-7 servings of colorful fruits and vegetables.

(3) Consume a moderate amount of healthy oils (such as fish oil).

(4) Focus on fiber-rich foods.

(5) Avoid animal proteins and dairy products - choose vegetable protein and dairy product alternatives.

(6) Limit or completely eliminate alcohol, caffeine and nicotine, processed sugars, carbohydrates and fried or fatty foods.

These steps will not only improve your skin and your acne condition, but can provide you with a feeling of overall health and well-being as well!

Keep It Simple -- Less Is More!

If you would like to try an approach that seems more proactive, start with assessing your cleansing routine. You should be washing your face daily with a mild cleanser, and moisturizing it after every wash.

Make sure that you use sunscreen as well. Exfoliate regularly but gently, since too much scrubbing can cause irritation that leads to the inflammation and infection associated with pimples.

Consider making your own mask with green clay and olive oil. Spread it on evenly over your face and allow it to dry completely before washing it off. This will both soothe and moisturize your skin better than most commercial products.

If you want to try an herbal approach, consider adding common plants such as red clover, dandelion root, alfalfa leaves or Echinacea root to your diet or dried and powdered and mixed into your green clay mask.

Whatever your decision, be sure to give each option plenty of time to work before determining its effectiveness. Especially with whole-body approaches, many things must come into balance before you will notice any results. Ideally, you will find that your treatment both reduces your acne and improves your general health!
