Drink Your Acne Away

Why Drinking Water Can Improve Your Acne

Many people approach the treatment of their acne with a combination of topical and oral medications. With so many treatments available by prescription and over the counter we often overlook the simplest method of treating acne. In fact, one of the most overlooked acne treatments is found in almost every single household and barely costs a dime.

Washing Acne Away From the Inside

Believe it or not, drinking water is a great way to clear up your acne and keep your complexion glowing. Water is hydrating and hydration is great for your entire body, including your skin. You should aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, if not more. Water is really the key to clear skin and, unfortunately, most people overlook that fact..

Why is Water So Important?

Your body needs water in order to eliminate waste products. Excess waste in your body can contribute to acne and without enough water your body can’t function properly and keep acne at bay.

Soda, Coffee and Tea are Not Water

When you are calculating your daily intake of water, keep in mind that you can’t count other beverages. The eight glasses of water you drink should not include tea, juice, or soup. Remember -- water only!

Set Yourself Up for Success

You can simplify the process of remembering to drink enough water by doing a few things. First and foremost, always have a water bottle nearby. This way, when you get thirsty, you will already have a drink on hand and you won’t be tempted by carbonated, sugary beverages in nearby vending machines.

You should keep a large container of ice water in your refrigerator and fill it each day with the amount of water you need for that day. Monitoring your water intake is a great way to make sure you get enough water. Your skin will thank you for it.

There are a few other things people can do to make sure they consume enough water. See if your family is interested in getting a water cooler at home or buy a week’s worth of your favorite bottled water and stock it in the fridge. Even just buying a new refillable water bottle can keep you motivated and help you stay on task. When you notice your complexion improving, you’ll realize just how important water is.
