Can Your Beverage Choices Affect Your Acne?

Acne and Your Drinking Habits

Water is very important in treating your acne, and that includes both the water you wash yourself in and the water you drink every day. Believe it or not, drinking water won’t only help your body rid itself of the toxins that can contribute to acne, but drinking water can help you avoid drinking beverages that make your acne worse.

What Goes In Must Come Out

As the saying goes -- what goes in must come out. If you ingest too many toxins (which sodas and other unhealthy beverages have plenty of) your body isn’t going to be able to rid itself of them quick enough.

When your body can’t effectively rid itself of the toxins in your diet, acne flare-ups will occur. Fortunately, water can help prevent this.

Cleansing from the Inside

If you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day (as you should) you won’t really shouldn’t be thirsty for other beverages. This will prevent you from drinking beverages that are bad for you (and your complexion).

In addition to filling the void left behind when you stop consuming unhealthy beverages, water will help your body get rid of the toxins you do intake. Drinking plenty of water is a great way to cleanse your system from the inside, and when that happens toxins are less likely to result in acne problems.

Anything But Boring

If you’re one of those people who would love to drink 8 glasses of water but you just can’t live with the fact that it tastes like -- well, tastes like water, then you might want to try adding fresh squeezed lemon or lime juice to your ice water. Not only will it liven up the taste, but it’s good for you too.

Remember, when it comes to acne, it’s not about caring for the outside -- it’s about caring for the inside too. Help fight your acne the way firefighters fight fire -- with water.
