Can Your Acne Disappear if You Change Your Diet?

Another Discussion Regarding Acne and Diet

I’ve talked about the connection between acne and diet before, but it’s such an important topic it needs another look. There is an abundance of information circulating, usually from physicians and dermatologists, that emphasizes the fact that eating junk food does not CAUSE acne. In fact, the mainstream medical community routinely refuses to acknowledge the relationship between diet and acne. That, my friends, is a problem.

Diet DOES Matter

I’m not going to elaborate today on specific diet recommendations to reduce your acne, but I am going to ask you to take a look at the role of diet in the presentation of acne.

How can what you put into your body not effect how your skin looks? Sure, there are some people who can eat whatever they want and still have clear skin, but the majority of people will suffer adverse health effects from a poor diet, and that can include the appearance of acne.

I think it’s very unfortunate that mainstream physicians and dermatologists insist that diet doesn’t impact acne. How can it not? If you suffer from acne, it’s time to reevaluate your diet. Perhaps, you need to eliminate dairy or maybe sugar, or perhaps both. Sure, you might miss those foods at first, but isn’t it worth it if you can achieve clear skin.

If you’re a teenager, you might not need to give up these foods forever. You might be able to eliminate certain foods from your diet for about three months, and then reintroduce them in months to come.

Supplements Help Too

Also, an acidophilus supplement can be helpful as well. If you digestive process isn’t working efficiently, your bowel will not purge impurities. When this happens, your skin will have to pick up the slack. Acidophilus is a “healthy” bacteria, and acidophilus supplements can improve the appearance of acne.

A Word to the Wise

Remember, no matter what the “experts” tell you about diet and acne, the fact of the matter is that diet CAN affect acne outbreaks. Of course dermatologists and pharmaceutical companies won’t make any money if you clear up your acne with a few simple diet changes, but that’s not really your problem, is it?
